Lyrics:
Your love is like a candle
It flickers in the dark
You came into my life
And brightened up my heart
With you by my side
I see the love that I wanna feel
Show me your lovin', baby
Show me that it's real
Just take my hand
I'll make you understand
I want you
You want me
And that's the way it's got to be
Now that you're here
I'm gonna make it clear
Chorus:
Give me the love I need
Give in to me
Just give me the love I need
Hold me, caress me
Give in to me
Hold me, caress me
Give in to me
Give me the love I need
Give in to me
Just give in to me
Your love is like a whisper (whisper)
Saying what I want to hear
Your eyes cry secrets
My heart will dry your tears
Girl, I need to have you near me
Loving I would find
Girl, I would hold your heart
Inside, embrace your mind
Just take my hand
I'll make you understand
I want you
You want me
And that's the way it's got to be
Now that you're here
I'm gonna make it clear
Chorus
Just give me the love I need
I need your lovin' tonight, sweet lady
I wonder what the nights'd be like
Without you near me, yeah
Give in to me, girl
I need you by my side
Just give me the love I need
I need your lovin', baby
I need your love
I need your love
Chorus

Comments:
Lovely imagery since candles are considered romantic, but they easily lose their flame (what's that to say about love?)
Not overly sappy nor emotional
simple, effective
aggressive, to-the-point
The chorus looks wordy and repetitive, but it sounds better with the vocal arrangements.
letting go of reserves, breaking down emotional walls, just simply giving in to love
Soft, subtle, only between two lovers
Vulnerable
Protective, caring
Great imagery. Heart and mind.
(like body and soul)
He emphasizes "got" as the point.
The bridge reiterates the chorus. Also shows a vulnerable side to the singer(s) as well.
The lyrics play off the melody/music wonderfully. The saxophone is like an extension to the singer's soul, his heart, while the flute is echoing (representing the lady of the song).
As I've said previously, the only verse I'd nitpick would be the first verse (as a possible improvement). There is not much to improve, as this is a beautiful romantic song. Even untouched, it ranks 4.5 and may even be 5.0 if no future songs outdo this one.
