A step up from 'Messed Around' and 'Can't Stop Loving You' (as a song written for a co-ed group), this song is confusing on the surface - but then, the whole theme - aka 'He Said, She Said' - is supposed to be confusing. Which person is the audience/listener supposed to believe when the arguing couple is suspicious and confused about each other's actions and words?
In that respect, lyrically, the song is well-written. To make it simpler to understand, there are 3 females (the two singing are friends, and the other 'she' is only mentioned in the song by both parties). Girl A is the Boy's girlfriend. She sings most of the female lyrics, except for the 'why's he saying all these things about you?' verse - which is sung by her friend, Girl B. Girl C is the one whispering in the Boy's other ear, and also telling Girl A that the Boy is dating her too. *whew*!
The music fits; fast pace and going crazy.
A bit harsh in some places, but that follows the theme of the song.
