Lyrics:
Baby, you're not the only one
Ooh yeah, hey yeah
I see the things he does to you
All the pain that he puts you through
And I see what's really going on
Staying out at night while you're by the phone
Take it from me, it's a lesson to be learned
Even the good guys get burned
Take it from me, see I would give you love
The kind of love that you've only dreamed of
Chorus:
Baby, you're not the only one
You don't have to be afraid to fall in love
And I know that you've hurt in the past
But if you want it here's my heart
No strings attached
He doesn't give you the kind of attention
That a girl like you needs, that a girl like you needs
'Cause he always looks around, his eyes wander round
He doesn't see you like I see, yeah
Take it from me, it's a lesson to be learned
Even the good guys get burned
Take it from me, see I would give you love
The kind of love that you've only dreamed of
Chorus
Take it from me, it's a lesson to be learned
Even the good guys get burned
Take it from me, see I would give you love
The kind of love that you've only dreamed of
So if you want to take a chance with me
If you take a chance with me
I'll be everything you need, everything you need
Because it's our destiny, oh
Chorus
[end]
Even though this song is 3 min. 50 sec., it seems lengthy towards the end when the chorus repeats.
The lyrics in this song are also simple, but effective in the "girl hurt by emotionally cheating boyfriend" theme. The singer(s) don't have to say "let him go" because they point out the facts that she tries to forget (e.g. the wandering eyes); all they say is "give me a chance; I'll treat you better." One thing is the lyrics don't specifically tell the listener (girl) what to expect from the new guy. Just the "promise" of "the kind of love" that she's dreamed of, but not what it entails.
In this song, the lyrics are actually better than the music itself. The music (between lyrics) is punctuated (referred to as "dirty pop" sometimes) and aggressive, which is fine in "Digital Get Down" but in this song, it takes away from the melody (of the lyrics).
The vocal arrangements (music) are nicely done for the chorus towards the end of the song.
