The Grinch Soundtrack (2000)
My Critique Notes:
As I've mentioned before, the reason I've given "Give In To Me" and "Space Cowboy" 4.5 instead of 5.0 is because I'm waiting for his next/future songs to top them. All the ratings are relative to one another, comparing one song to another song. The ratings may shift with newer songs.
The above critiques are mild and brief. I am working on "in depth" looks to each song. When they become availabe, I will note them in my Updated section.
As for "You Don't Have To Be Alone", I'm sorry - I am in the minority that thinks this wasn't his best work. Of the two songs released in Christmas 2000 (the other song being a non-JC written song entitled "I Don't Want To Spend One More Christmas Without You"), his song was good - but the other was better. It had a prettier melody and music accompaniment. Granted his song has better lyrics than "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays", I still think "Space Cowboy" tops "You Don't Have To Be Alone."
Pay mind that I am looking at his songs both lyrically and melody/musically; I am looking at how he wrote the song. I am NOT looking at how he sings, since I am biased in that sense (like any other JC fan) and think he can make any song sound better with his voice.
